Chapter HistoryThomas Carter Chapter held its first official meeting at Mt. Cross, Pittsylvania County, Virginia, on February 20, 1936, with Mrs. F.K. Perrow, Sr. as organizing regent.
Our chapter was named for a distinguished patriot, Thomas Carter, who served three years in the war before coming to live in our county at a plantation he named "Green Rock." He and his wife, Winifred Hobson, are buried in the cemetery, which is maintained by Thomas Carter Chapter. |
